AutoMow is the data controller for personal data collected through automow.uk. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with, under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use our site, we may collect the following:
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number and postal address you give us at checkout, in contact forms, in garden assessment forms, or in email enquiries.
- Order & payment details: items ordered, billing & delivery address, and payment confirmation data. Full card details are processed directly by our payment provider — we do not store them.
- Garden & enquiry details: information you choose to share about your lawn, property or installation needs.
- Technical data: IP address, approximate location, device type, operating system, browser, referring URL and language.
- Website activity: pages viewed, time on page, links clicked, products viewed, items added to basket, scroll depth and other interactions, collected via cookies and similar technologies — see our Cookie Policy.
- Marketing preferences: consent choices, email subscription status and cookie consent selections.
2. How we use your information
- Fulfilling your order — processing payments, arranging delivery and any optional installation (contract).
- Customer support — replying to contact forms, garden assessments and email enquiries (contract / legitimate interest).
- Advertising & retargeting — showing relevant ads on platforms such as Meta (Facebook & Instagram) and Google, including ads to people who have visited our site (consent).
- Analytics & website performance monitoring — understanding how the site is used, measuring campaign performance and improving page speed, layout and content (consent).
- Legal & accounting — meeting tax, accounting and consumer-law obligations (legal obligation).
- Marketing emails — only where you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time (consent).
3. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the business, including:
- E-commerce & hosting: our storefront platform and hosting providers.
- Payment processing: PCI-DSS compliant payment providers.
- Delivery: UK couriers, who receive the address and contact details needed to deliver your order.
- Installation engineers: if you book Pro Setup, the engineer receives the details needed to attend.
- Advertising providers: Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd (Facebook / Instagram) via the Meta Pixel and, where enabled, the Meta Conversions API, and Google Ireland Ltd via Google Ads, for advertising, measurement and retargeting.
- Analytics providers: Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) for traffic and behaviour analytics.
- Email & communication tools: for sending order, support and (where you've opted in) marketing emails.
Meta and Google act as independent or joint controllers for the data they receive through their pixels, tags and APIs. Their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.
4. Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API
With your consent, our site loads the Meta Pixel, which sends Meta information about your visit — including pages viewed, items viewed, add-to-cart events, purchases, your IP address, browser data and a Meta-issued identifier. Where enabled, we also use the Meta Conversions API to send a hashed copy of similar event data (for example a hashed email address) directly from our server to Meta, to improve measurement accuracy. You can opt out at any time via our cookie banner.
5. Google Analytics & Google Ads
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and may use Google Ads tags for advertising and remarketing. These tools set cookies and collect data such as IP address (typically truncated), device data and pages viewed. You can opt out at any time via our cookie banner.
6. International transfers
Meta, Google and some other providers may process data outside the UK / EEA, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on UK-approved transfer mechanisms such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
7. How long we keep it
- Order and accounting records: 7 years (HMRC requirement).
- Contact and enquiry emails: typically up to 24 months after last contact.
- Marketing data: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics & advertising cookies: see our Cookie Policy for individual cookie lifetimes.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time (including by changing your cookie preferences). To exercise these rights, email info@automow.uk.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have mishandled your data.
9. Security
The site uses HTTPS throughout. Payment data is handled by PCI-DSS compliant processors. Access to personal data is restricted on a need-to-know basis.
10. Children
Our site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
